Anthony Oscar Anderson, born Antal Ozkar Török on 25 October 1916 in Budapest, presumably Catholic. Grew up in Oberwart, initially still in western Hungary, became an Austrian citizen in 1919, began studying medicine in Vienna, fled to Sweden in May 1939 to avoid military service and worked on a farm, travelled on to France the following December and enlisted in the Foreign Legion in February 1940, served in North Africa and was interned there as an enemy alien by the Vichy government after the French capitulation in October 1940. Liberated by the Allies in November 1942, joined the Pioneer Corps in April 1943 and deployed to Sicily and the Italian mainland, transferred to No. 3 Troop, No. 10 (Inter-Allied) Commando, presumably with the West Kent Regiment as the cover unit; sent to England in June 1945 and actual transfer to the West Kent Regiment, then deployed with the unit in occupied Germany, working as a translator for the Allied military government in Bochum; returned to Great Britain in November 1946 and discharged from the army in February 1947, naturalised in June 1950. Last rank Corporal, Enlistment Number 13053667, new Service Number after assignment to No. 3 Troop as well as Commando Number unknown or not available.
