William Kennedy

William Kennedy, born Wolfgang Kals on 1 August 1912 in Kitzbühel; presumably Catholic. Teacher or ski instructor, fled to Great Britain after the annexation of Austria by Germany in 1938, worked there at a farm, after the start of the war as an enemy alien (category B) initially not interned but then in spring 1940 due to the growing threat of a German invasion. Released in November 1940 and joined the Pioneer Corps, at least in August 1944 stationed at Kempton Park Prisoner of War Reception Camp No. 9 in Sunbury-on Thames in Surrey and considered as a ski instructor or reinforcement for No. 3 Troop, No. 10 (Inter-Allied) Commando, but very probably not deployed with the it, presumably transferred to the Intelligence Corps in December 1944; naturalised in April 1947.
